Alexandra Augé shares her journey with us

Team Leader Service Desk at ANSAM since June 2024, Alexandra Augé oversees a team of technicians dedicated to the real-time management of support, operations, and maintenance tickets for our clients. The role of Managed Services is crucial in IT, ensuring the continuity and performance of the infrastructures and technologies deployed by engineers. At 28, Alexandra has made her mark in a predominantly male industry, overcoming numerous challenges to establish herself and reach this level of responsibility. Today, she shares her journey and vision with us, hoping to inspire other women interested in our field!

  • Can you tell us about your journey?
    "I first became interested in IT during high school, thanks to programming workshops. I quickly realized this field was a perfect fit for me. I completed an equivalent of a CFC in IT, followed by a professional school specializing in systems and networks. During my apprenticeship, I discovered the importance of operational work and realized just how much impact my contributions had in a real-world setting."

  • What made you want to work in IT?
    "The idea that every day would be different, combining technical aspects with interpersonal interactions. I absolutely love that!"

Challenges & Achievements

  • How would you describe your role at ANSAM?
    "I lead a team responsible for customer support, which involves making decisions that have a direct impact on employees and represent ANSAM to our clients. What I love most is mentoring my colleagues and watching them grow—it’s incredibly rewarding."

  • What are your greatest achievements so far?
    "Seeing my former technicians progress from junior roles to engineers is a great source of pride. Another personal achievement was the emotional reaction of my team when I left my previous job. It confirmed to me that I had made a positive impact not only on our clients but also on the team dynamic."

Choosing ANSAM

  • Why did you choose to join ANSAM?
    "It was an ambitious challenge: evolving the Service Desk structure to further enhance customer satisfaction. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and take on new challenges. I had also heard about ANSAM through professional connections, and the entrepreneurial environment seemed very stimulating."

  • How was your onboarding experience?
    "It went very well, both with the team and the management. My colleagues supported me in transitioning both technically and historically. The management also immediately made me feel trusted, which helped me find my footing quickly."

  • In your opinion, how does ANSAM stand out in promoting diversity?
    "At ANSAM, skills are valued over gender. In my opinion, this should be the standard everywhere. Diversity goes beyond gender—we welcome unconventional profiles, including apprentices or interns with non-traditional backgrounds, which greatly enriches collaboration. We are committed to allowing all profiles to explore our professions and thrive in them."

Advice & Perspectives from a Woman in a Male-Dominated Industry

  • Have you faced specific challenges as a woman in IT?
    "As a manager, I have never felt treated differently. The trust of my team has played a big role in that. But as a technician, I sometimes had to prove my skills more, especially to some skeptical clients or colleagues. These situations are rare but show that there is still progress to be made."

  • What advice would you give to encourage constructive discussions about diversity and inclusion in the workplace?
    "We shouldn’t go to the opposite extreme. Trying too hard to emphasize that gender (for example) doesn’t matter can paradoxically highlight differences even more. Just treat us equally, focusing on skills first and foremost, without distinction."

  • What advice would you give to a young woman wanting to pursue a career in IT?
    "Have confidence in yourself and don’t doubt your abilities. Impostor syndrome is common, but you have to learn to overcome it. The only limits are the ones you set for yourself!"

  • One word to sum up your experience at ANSAM?
    "Challenge. The challenges are constant, but that’s what motivates me every day!"
